It’s not just Dubai’s climate that’s sizzling hot—the gastronomy scene is absolutely on fire. And incidentally, the temperature is just right to grill a juicy steak or two. So, while the mercury’s so high you could (theoretically) fry an egg on the sidewalk, discerning foodies are flocking to the smorgasbord of steakhouses burgeoning across the oasis city.
Three Cuts is a fresh-off-the-grill eaterie that’s geared to be a cut (or three) above the rest. In fact, it’s literally above the rest, too: located atop the Nakheel Mall in Palm Jumeirah, Three Cuts asserts its culinary supremacy in location, menu, and ambiance. If curated elegance and cozy intimacy are your affinities, Three Cuts is your paradise-found.
Dreamed up by father-son duo Jason and Joe Bassili—plus culinary-fusion mastermind Chef Ihab Andraos—Three Cuts offers a small menu, executed perfectly. If there’s one thing cultivated diners know, it’s that a huge selection = a huge red flag.
Keeping it simple and skillful, the restaurant serves up a one-page menu of sophisticated dishes, making for easy decisions and more time to soak up your good company—just like the good old days.
The food: There is more to this steakhouse than ‘meats’ the eyes
There’s no getting around it, Three Cuts is a steakhouse—and we’re not talking cauliflower. So, vegans may want to give this one a pass. The restaurant is named for its trio of meat cuts: Striploin, Tenderloin, and Rib-eye—the ultimate triple threat for carnivores. You’ll also enjoy the chef’s selections, including tender Porterhouse steaks and marbled Tomahawks.
That said, pescatarians (and part-time veggies) have plentiful choices from the grill, ranging from juicy shrimp in Glenoboise sauce to smoky charred chicken breast. Seafood connoisseurs are set for a tide of oceanic delights at the Raw Bar, with fresh oysters piled-high and the anchor of all things fine dining: salmon tartare.
Prepare to be wowed by the incredible three-meter wood-fired grill fired by a unique mix of oak and olive wood. Meaning: your olfactories will be soaking up that mouthwatering aroma long before the waiters come to take your order. And when they do? Don’t hold back: the menu is presented like a genie gifting you three wishes: salivating starters, magnificent mains, and decadent desserts. And, having sampled the menu, the team at Luxe Digital can personally guarantee your first thought (and your first bite) will be ‘holy cow’.
Allowing the supreme-quality ingredients and atmosphere to speak for themselves, Three Cuts slices through the clutter. Setting the perfect stage for a simple yet upscale dining experience, it’s the perfect destination for an epicurean evening.
Dish highlights: Mouthwatering must-try’s
Of course, a few extra-special dishes stood out to us—though picking favorites here is nothing short of a Herculean task.
However, we can’t recommend the light-smoked Salmon Carpaccio enough; each bite literally melts in your mouth, and you simply don’t want it to end. This dish features the highest-grade smoked salmon from Le Fumoir, which is owned by the Bassili family. You can also find it on the menus of 5-star hotels like Atlantis and One & Only, world-class airline Emirates, and upscale supermarkets like Waitrose. In fact, Joe Bassili (the father in the duo) traveled to Scotland to master his technique, and it shows.
For something lighter, the wood-charred Caesar Salad embodies the legend of its namesake, sprinkled with a bacon crumble and deeply-smoked croutons for an updated take.
You can’t miss the Beef Tartare with its spicy horseradish complementing the buttery-soft chopped beef, and the chunky House Fries pair beautifully with any dish you select. And, coming from Belgium ourselves—the true birthplace of fries, FYI—our standards are pretty high.
Now, for the signature steaks: the tender Beef Striploin is a lean-machine for those seeking lighter indulgence, while the Ribeye Steak is the ultimate showcase of that 3-meter grill we mentioned. Imbued with those smoky oak and olive wood flavors, the Ribeye is a steak you won’t forget in a hurry.
Finish on a high with the deconstructed Red Fruit Cheesecake for a creamy, fresh palate-cleanser. Or, get stuck into the grand finale, AKA the Golden Chocolate Mousse—reminiscent of a giant Ferrero Rocher, but like, a thousand times better. Crafted with rich cacao, this is a decadent dessert for patrons who take sweetness seriously.
The bar: Cocktails and conversations
A warm invitation to commence or close your evening, the Three Cuts Steakhouse bar stirs up the ingredients for effortless vibes and flowing conversation. Master mixologists craft potent cocktails while uber-cool funk and soul dominate the playlist, creating the perfect soundtrack to your experience.
From classics like the bold and zesty Old Fashioned to the signature St. Germain Des Pres, with its botanical gin, fresh cucumber, and elegant elderflower, there’s a tipple for every taste.
The cocktail menu breathes new life into old favorites, too: The Momocello takes the classic Italian Aperol Spritz and propels it into the zeitgeist, adding Japanese peaches and zingy yuzu for an elevated twist. And the divine Holy Water shakes up Pisco in a gimlet style, sharpened with Peruvian lime leaf extract.
The atmosphere: A graceful step back in time
We’re forever telling you Dubai has it all. So, of course you can find a slice of the Roaring Twenties when a Tardis-spin back to the Jazz Age takes your fancy. Yep, Three Cuts’ Speakeasy Club gives a smokey-eyed wink to the era.
Lose yourself in the Art Deco interiors, soft-lit allure, and soulful rhythms from dab-handed DJs. Immerse in the rich emerald greens and lavish walnut hues embellished with luxe gold accents. And, while you’re awaiting your meal, take in Christopher Cuseo’s thought-provoking abstract artworks gracing the walls.
It’s like stumbling upon a best-kept secret, a graceful step back in time.
All of that said, this isn’t a caricature. Three Cuts simply pays tribute to old-world glamor—speaking to a time of endless possibilities, frivolity and fun, and comforting conviviality.
You’ve got intimate booths for that sense of seclusion, a chef’s table complete with chandeliers, and plush furnishings to eliminate any notion of heading home early. And, whether you need a breather between courses or simply fancy a breath of fresh air, the 100-seat outdoor terrace mirrors the retro aesthetic of the interiors. Don’t miss the Sunset Deck, where you can toast the end of the day with your favorite people, with the promise of a grand evening ahead.
